2002.02.14: Molasses in the Blogosphere

The whole blogging world seems to have slowed down production recently. Almost every site that I visit on a regular basis has cut its update freqeuncy by at least half, if not much more. My own site is no exception. I'm not complaining or trying to point fingers or anything. I'm certainly not trying to single anyone out. I'm just making an observation here. It seems rather widespread. This doesn't just apply to personal blogs. Semi-professional blogs (see MicrocontentNews and JoelOnSoftware), and even large community blogs (see Kuro5hin) have slowed down too.

This has been going on for over a month now, and I'm wondering what up? Is it just the time of year? I'm in school, and that keeps me pretty busy, but not everybody is in school. Why has everyone not on a school schedule slowed down?

Eric says:

yeah ... i've noticed this, too.

i've also noticed that sometimes a word or phrase or idea or something will also start popping up frequently in the little local blogosphere 'round here. i suppose just the fact that everyone reads everyone else could account for it, but ...

i dunno. it's probably just in my head.

Working my way back, although after a 2 to 10 shift my first day at the bookstore, I have to admit I am pooped.

How are you doing, Wink? I hope school isn't kicking your butt. :)
