Corkscrew? What's that?

Tree and I were making dinner. We were in a hurry 'cause we had to be somewhere by 6:00. A vital ingredient of the recipe--wine, which we had bought a few days ago. So we go to pour it into the pot, and discover that we have no corkscrew. A quick run over to the neighbors reveals that they are not home (though their lights and TV are on). A phone call reveals that our other neighbors are not home either. Attempts to pull the cork out using a normal screw and pliers proves fruitless.

Not much time. Don't want to ruin dinner. Cork stuck in bottle.

So...I pull out the trusty power-drill and drill a hole through the cork. Pour out the wine through the decimated cork. Strain out the little bits of cork pieces. We're all set.

Dinner was yummy.
