tired

Turned in a 20 page paper today. I was up till 5 AM working on it. I wrote this paper by working on it between headaches. Kinda like staying dry by running between the raindrops. If you've ever tried to stay dry this way, you'll understand why I had to stay up so late working on it.

No headaches today though. Its been three weeks since my first one, so I should be through the woods. (Yes, that sound you heard was indeed me knocking on wood. Did you even need to ask?)

Water Water Water

One treatment for cluter headaches is the "water treatment" (affectionately known as "water, water, water"). Drink water. Then drink some more. A glass every half hour. Until you fall asleep. The moment you wake up, start over.

Too early to tell if this helps. But my system is certaily as flushed out as its ever been.

Sweet, Sweet Oxygen

Thank God for Oxygen.

My cluster headaches have continued unabated for the past two (almost three) weeks now. This is the worst bout ever as I have been having an average of one headaches each day (previous bouts averaged one headache every other day), and the intensity of the headaches this time around was worse than normal.

The result? Two and a half remarkably unproductive weeks. Zero concentration. Zero attention span. I am now behind in my schoolwork (I had been about a week ahead). I am having trouble doing my current assignments. I haven't blogged in forever. I took two midterms while heavily medicated (I got a B+ and a B-. About as good as could be expected under the circumstances, but disappointing nonetheless).

My doctor suggested (actually, prescribed) that I breathe pure oxgen when I get my headaches. Oxygen bottles have been delivered and I have learned how to use them. This morning, I got my latest headache, and I gave the oxygen a try.

It works.

And it works faster than the drugs. And I don't feel all woosey and out-of-it. Thank God for Oxygen. And thanks to all who were praying for or thinking about me. I really apprectiate the concern.
